Privacy Policy

What we collect

• Account: your email address and sign-in provider (Google or email/password), handled by Firebase Authentication.
• Profile: gender, age, country, and the interests you choose.
• Messages: chat messages are retained for up to 24 hours for abuse review, then deleted automatically. Conversations under an open moderation report are kept until the report is resolved.
• Safety data: reports you file or that are filed against you, and your block list.
• Age safety checks: StrangerChat is 18+. Chat messages are checked automatically for signs that the writer is under 18, first by simple pattern matching and then, only for matching messages, by an AI model. If a message is flagged, the chat ends, the account is paused, and that one message is kept for a moderator to review. Messages that are not flagged are not stored for this purpose.
• Device and usage data: pages visited, device and browser type, approximate location derived from your IP address, and performance timings, collected by the analytics and advertising services listed below.

What strangers see

Only your country flag, your gender, and the interests you share with them. Never your name, email, age, or anything else.

Where data lives

StrangerChat runs on Google Firebase (Firestore, Realtime Database, Authentication, Hosting). Data is processed under Google’s Firebase privacy terms. We do not sell your personal data.

Analytics

• Google Analytics measures how the site is used: which pages are visited, on what kind of device, and from roughly where. It uses cookies.
• Firebase Performance Monitoring records page-load and network timing so we can find features that are slow or broken.
• Microsoft Advertising and Google Ads tags measure whether visits from our own ads lead to people starting a chat or buying Premium. They use cookies.
• Microsoft Clarity, loaded with the Microsoft Advertising tag, records how visitors use our public pages (clicks, scrolling and page layout) as anonymous session replays and heatmaps, so we can see what is confusing. It masks text you type and does not see the contents of chats.

Translation and share cards

• Translate only runs when you tap it on a message. That one message is sent to Google’s Vertex AI to be translated, and the translation is kept with the chat so the other person does not trigger a second one. It is deleted when the chat is purged.
• Share cards are drawn on your own device; nothing is uploaded. A line someone else wrote can only be turned into a card after they tap Allow, and the card shows no names, only the words and a general description such as “a stranger from Brazil”.

Advertising

StrangerChat does not currently show ads to anyone, free or Premium. The Microsoft Advertising and Google Ads tags listed under Analytics only measure our own ads on other websites; they do not place ads on this site. If that changes, this section will be updated to name the ad network and where its ads appear.

We have applied to show ads from Google AdSense on public content pages, such as the blog and topic guides. If those ads are switched on, they would never appear on chat, group room, sign-in, onboarding, settings or checkout pages, or to an active Premium pass, and the following applies:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet (how Google uses advertising cookies).
• You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and opt out of some third-party vendors’ use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

We do not share your account, profile or messages with advertisers.

Notifications

• Peak-hours reminders are sent only if you turn them on. We store a notification token for your account so we can send them. Turn them off at any time in your browser’s site settings.
• Live-night reminders are emails you ask for with “Remind me every week” on a themed night. We store that choice against your account and email you about ten minutes before that night starts, weekly, until you turn it off in the lobby or with the link in the email. When you join a live night we also count your attendance for that night, which is only ever shown as a total.
• No ad notifications: we do not send advertising through browser notifications. If you allowed ad notifications on this site earlier, they are switched off automatically the next time you visit.

Payments

If you purchase Premium, your payment is handled entirely by Razorpay. Your card, UPI, or banking details go directly to Razorpay and never touch our servers. We store only the transaction reference, plan purchased, amount, and your Premium expiry date — the minimum needed to activate your benefits and handle refunds.

Cookies and browser storage

StrangerChat uses browser storage to keep you signed in and to remember a few preferences. The analytics and advertising services above set their own cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings; blocking third-party cookies will not stop you chatting.

Deleting your data

Email admin@strangerchat.pro from your account email and we will delete your account and profile within 30 days.

Age requirement

StrangerChat is for adults 18+. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
