How topic matching works

When you sign up you choose up to 5 interests. Matching stays random, so nobody sits in a separate room waiting for one subject, but people who share one of your interests are preferred when you are paired.

Once you are matched, the interests you have in common appear at the top of the chat, along with a few suggested openers about them. Tap one to send it, and neither of you has to think of a first line.

If nobody online shares your interests at that moment, you can still be matched with anyone else who is waiting, so picking a niche topic does not narrow who you can meet.

Questions about topics

Do I only get matched with people who chose the same topic?

No. Shared interests are a preference, not a filter. People who share one of your interests are preferred when you are matched, but you can still be paired with anyone else who is waiting.

How many topics can I pick?

Up to 5. Picking a few gives the matchmaker more to work with than picking just one.

Can I talk about something that is not on the list?

Of course. Topics only shape who you are matched with. Once the chat starts, the conversation can go anywhere.

Do topics cost anything?

No. Interest matching is part of free chat. Premium adds gender and country filters and priority matching; it does not unlock topics.
