Debate Night
Every Tuesday night you are matched with someone else who wants to argue for fun. You both get the same light-hearted motion and opposite sides, whether or not you agree with yours. Make your case, poke holes in theirs, and at the end say who won.
Every week · 8–10 PM IST
How it works
- Join any time between 8 and 10 PM IST.
- You are matched with another debater and handed opposite sides of tonight’s motion.
- Take turns making your case. Three good points beat thirty messages.
- When you are done, each say who argued better. Then hit Next for a new opponent.
When you are matched, one of you gets “FOR the motion” and the other “AGAINST the motion”, shown at the top of the chat.
House rules
- Keep it playful: argue the idea, never the person.
- Motions are deliberately low-stakes. No politics, no religion.
- Concede a good point when you hear one. It is more fun that way.
- The usual StrangerChat rules apply: 18+ only, be kind, and report anyone who is not.
The motion rotation
A new one every week, in this order. Try any of them in a regular chat too.
- 1“Pineapple belongs on pizza”
- 2“Texting is better than calling”
- 3“Cats make better pets than dogs”
- 4“The book is always better than the movie”
- 5“Morning people have it better than night owls”
- 6“It is fine to walk out of a bad movie halfway”
- 7“Summer is better than winter”
- 8“Working from home beats the office”
- 9“Everyone should learn to cook”
- 10“Spoilers do not ruin anything”
Debate Night: common questions
What if I agree with the other side?
Even better practice. Arguing a side you do not hold is the whole game, and nobody knows who you are.
Are the topics serious?
No, on purpose. They are light enough to argue about with a stranger and still both laugh at the end.
